MISS BLABY COMPETITION
Background
The Miss Blaby Competition originates back to the mid 1970's and ran for around 8 years before it faded into obscurity.
Towards the end of 2003, it re-emerged once again from the archives, organised by Adrian Bramley, brother of former Miss Blaby 1976, Debbie Bramley. He felt Blaby needed to regain some of the glamour that it had lost over the years. Held at the Corus Hotel (now Westfield House) in May, accompanied by a 3 course meal, the competition was deemed a huge success.
Each year a dozen judges from local businesses mark each of the finalists on deportment, appearance and personality. The winner receives a cash prize of £250 and a selection of prizes that add up to £1000. The runner-up receives £125 and third place receives £50, both girls also receive a selection of prizes too.
Miss Blaby has various functions to attend, during her 12 month reign, having the opportunity to do things that other people would not get the chance to do.
